Ballerina butter


30 grams peppermint hydrosol
20 grams distilled water
10 grams rose hydrosol (Bulgarian is my favorite!)
1/8 teaspoon xanthan gum
1 teaspoon borax
4 grams calophyllum inophyllum oil (also called tamanu oil)
16 grams almond oil
2 grams lecithin
4 grams vegetable emulsifying wax4 grams mimosa wax (or substitute beeswax)
10 drops peppermint essential oil
20 drops spearmint essential oil
6 drops tea tree essential oil or manuka essential oil

Blending Procedure:
Combine the hydrosols, water, xanthan gum and borax in a heat proof (I use Pyrex) glass measuring cup with a pour spout. Place the mixture in a slowly boiling hot water bath until they are hot, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Place the calophyllum, almond oil, lecithin and wax in a separate, larger heat proof container. Place the mixture in a hot water bath until the waxes are melted. Remove from heat.
After stirring the oils/waxes together to make sure they are evenly combined, begin stirring the oil/wax mixture with an electric mixer on medium speed and add the water mixture as you stir. You will see the mixture begin to thicken as you blend it. Continue mixing until until Ballerina Butter is thick and rich. This should take about 5-10 minutes at most.
To use, massage into cleaned and freshly pampered feet and ankles to soothe and refresh. If you're lucky enough to have a volunteer massage therapist, enjoy a calf massage while you're at it. I take Ballerina Butter to my pedicurist for use in place of the commercial products they use there. Enjoy!!

Emu heel balm

6 teaspoons emu oil
1 teaspoon lanolin
2 teaspoons avocado butter
2 teaspoons beeswax
7 drops ylang ylang essential oil
20 drops orange essential oil
.1 millileter Germaber II-E (optional)

Blending Procedure:
Combine all ingredients except the essential oils and the preservative (if you are using) into a heat safe glass bowl, and place in the bowl into a hot water bath to melt the beeswax and oils. Heat just until the beeswax is nearly melted. Do not overheat. Stir to combine and completely melt the beeswax.
Add the essential oils and the preservative if you are using. Stir to combine.
Place into clean container and allow to cool before capping. Label.
To use, massage generously into feet and heels before bedtime. Sleep in cotton socks for best softening results. Enjoy softer feet!
Note: Emu oil is great for dry and cracked skin but if you'd prefer to use a vegetable based oil, shea butter is an adequate substitute.

Bulgarian rose hair mousse

2 tablespoons coconut oil (I like to use virgin coconut oil)
1 tablespoon jojoba oil
1/16 teaspoon Bulgarian rose concrete

Blending Procedure:
Make sure all ingredients are room temperature. The coconut oil should NOT be cold because you do not want to have to heat this mixture up. It should not be a liquid consistency when you use it. Instead, it should be rich and thick. Measure the coconut oil into a bowl and stir well. The heat from your mixing will raise the temperature of the oil so that it obtains a smooth, thick texture.
Add the jojoba oil and stir more to make sure the mixture is even and well mixed.
Add the concrete last. You don't have to use Bulgarian rose, that's just my favorite. You can use the rose concrete from Morocco, Turkey or wherever you get it from.
Stir all of the ingredients together to form a thick, rich oily mixture. To use, apply to dry hair from roots to ends paying special attention to the dry areas. To facilitate penetration of the oil, you can do one of two things. First, you can cover your hair with a plastic bag or hair bonnet and sit under a dryer for 30 minutes, then wash and condition as usual. Second, you can cover your ahir with a plastic bag or hair bonnet and then use a blow dryer to saturate your hair with the heat which will help the oils penetrate. Then, wash and condition as usual.
This mixture will leave your hair shiny, and use over time will improve its condition. It has made a big difference in the way my hair looks and feels.

Moisturizing hair oil treatment

1 Cup Macadamia Nut Oil
1 Cup Sunflower Seed Oil
1/4 Cup Hemp seed Oil
1/8 Cup Avocado Oil
1/8 Cup Jojoba Oil
2 TBSP Vitamin E Oil
1/8 Cup Cocoa Butter
1/8 Cup Avocado Butter
1/8 Cup Mango Butter

Add all the ingredients to a double boiler and let them melt. Pour into a jar. When ready to use, heat gently for about 10 minutes in a bowl of boiling water until liquid and warm, but not hot. Apply liberally to hair and scalp, let soak for 15-20 minutes, then shampoo out. A second shampooing may be required. Apply treatment once a week and enjoy the luxurious results!

Hair butter

2 Tbsp shea butter
2 Tbsp mango butter
2 Tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp lanolin1 tsp sweet almond oil
1 tsp jojoba
1 tsp avocado oil
10 drops-ylang-ylang
1/8 tsp vanilla fragrance oil (or fragrance oil of your choice)

Melt ingredients together, pour in container and let cool. Good for hair and skin. Makes approximately 4 ounces.

scalp treatment oil

5 tsp. or 15 ml Jojoba oil
4 tsp. or 12 ml Neem oil
1 tsp. or 3 ml Hemp seed oil
2 drops each of these essential oils:
Carrot Seed
Bay Leaf
Chamomile, either Roman or Blue

Mix carrier oils, then add essential oils. This provides optimal dilution of essential oil to carrier oil, that is, 14 drops/oz.Mix & warm by rolling bottle in hands, do not heat over flame or in microwave.
Massage a few drops daily with finger tips into flaky, red, or itchy areas on the scalp (leaves hands nice and soft afterwards, too!)
Cautions: Leave out rosemary if being used by a pregnant person

Scalp soothing reconstructer

4 parts nilotica shea butter
2 parts jojoba oil
.25 parts tea tree oil
.25 parts peppermint oil

Soften the shea butter by mashing and whip in the jojoba oil. Continue whipping as the butter becomes a thick, smooth consistency. Add the essential oils and whip to blend. TO USE: apply cream to dry hair. You will feel a "tingle". If you have a heat cap, great, if not then wrap your head in plastic (I use a grocery bag) and then pull on a KNIT wool-type ski hat. Go about your business for 30 minutes and then wash and style your hair as usual.
